Goal Setting Workshops
Do you set great goals but struggle with follow through? At this Harnessing the Positive Workshop, we will focus on how to help you achieve your goals and dreams. We know that following up with your dreams is not easy. You may have others tell you it’s not possible. Or perhaps you are stuck thinking about all the obstacles that are in your way. We don’t want you to just stay stuck dreaming without follow through. We will focus on what it takes to accomplish your goals and live out your purposes. We will focus on Goal setting, Mindfulness, Gratitude, Killing the ANTs (Automatic negative thoughts) that sabotage success. We will help you identify and practice what is needed to help you succeed all while working with our amazing and beautiful horses. You will leave with newfound plan and energy to achieve the goals you have set for yourself.
Parenting Workshops
We understand how hard it is to parent a child who is struggling due to trauma, loss or who are neurodiverse. Many parents come to us feeling completely exhausted and overwhelmed as all the usual parenting strategies just don’t work. Parenting may feel like you are trying to pull around a 1000 lb. animal sometimes! Meltdowns may be a common occurrence and so you try to avoid leaving your house if you can help it. We will assist you in understanding your child’s developing brain and how you can find connection with your hard to reach child. And while we offer concrete support and strategies we will never judge you! Since horses are prey animals they can be very much like children with trauma. They require the same kind of skills and self regulation you need to parent a “difficult” child. We work with all families but specialize in supporting foster and adoptive families whose children have experienced trauma. have developmental trauma.
Summer Camp
A Social Skills group and Horse Camp for Children and Teens. The Social Skills groups is one week long for a half a day each. We provide a short teaching on social skills and then practice utilizing horse therapy. Horse Camps take place the 3rd week of June and the 3rd week of July at our Hampshire, IL location.
All activities are on the ground. No horse experience is needed. Horses are well suited to help individuals and groups develop leadership, teamwork and emotional IQ needed for success, as they live in social groups within a hierarchy of leadership. They require good leadership and well defined roles to survive. They are clear in their communication and give immediate feedback to each other and to us! In order to be successful in working with horses you must develop self-awareness and an ability to regulate strong emotions.
Working with horses help you not just talk about change but actually practice change. Since horses are animals of prey, they are sensitive to the slightest change in our interactions with them. As such they provide honest, immediate and clear feedback. It is an experience similar to a ropes course but you have living creatures are like living biofeedback machines. And since you are experiencing change in the moment it is hard to forget!
